Free in-person and online presentations to help you understand later in life care
йPվ’s innovative Planning for your future campaign is a big hit with people who need help understanding care and support in later life.
Free in-person and online presentations help attendees understand the support that might be available when they need it. They can then relate it to their own situation and discuss future options with their family. Being prepared means people may avoid expensive surprises further down the line.
More and more of us are realising that planning for the future is just as important in later years as at any other life stage. This is especially true when it comes to money. Without some sort of plan, many of us can struggle to make informed decisions about care or finances, particularly when something unexpected happens.
The need to be better informed has certainly struck a chord with people who come along to a presentation:
“I was so ignorant of the care system when my mother got ill and then was discharged home, that I compare the experience to being pushed off a cliff. Your presentation has, I’m sure, helped very many navigate the system.”
“The information given was really easy to understand. It was good to have so many things spoken about, some of which I'd not even thought about before.”
“All the information provides you with a starting point for when you are faced with problems, as I wouldn’t otherwise know where to start.”
“I had already looked into Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPA's) before the event but it was still good as it refreshed my knowledge.”
The talks have been designed to help older people or their loved ones, such as their adult children. They cover topics such as:
- options for care and its costs
- LPA's
- tips for maintaining independence
- support for carers
A website and helpline run by our partners Age UK йPվ offers further support.
More than 3000 people have now attended a Planning for your future presentation in-person or online. This milestone was reached just weeks after the campaign was 'highly commended' in the national MJ Achievement Awards. The Awards celebrate the best in local government services.
The next in-person presentations take place in Hindhead, Caterham, Banstead, Addlestone, Guildford and Woking, with more dates being added. Visit the for the full list and to book a place at an in-person or a monthly online session.
