Free online directory of support for adults
is a free, local, online directory where you can search for sources of help, advice and support for adults. New information is added to the thousands of entries every month and you will find details of services from councils, local charities, community groups and health partners. There is something for everyone, whether you are looking for:
- ways to get from A to B if you don't drive
- the location of local food banks
- support groups for a particular health issue
- help for carers
- a new activity to meet people and pass the time
...and much more
Impact of Connect to Support
The directory celebrates its first anniversary this month. In the first year more than 50,000 visitors to the website have viewed more than 180,000 pages relating to services for adults. They've discovered information on support, activities and groups near to where they live.
Using the directory
The website is easy to use and lets you tailor your results. Start by typing in what you want to find alongside your town or postcode. You can then filter the results to narrow your search. For example, you may only want results that relate to a particular health condition. You can even see the results plotted on a map.
If you are searching for something on behalf of someone else, you can create a menu of services by adding entries to a shortlist. Using the 'My shortlist' link at the top of the page, you can then email the results to someone else as a pdf. You can also send the list to yourself to print.
This function is particularly useful if someone struggles with digital skills. It is also helpful if you are a professional looking to signpost people to specific sources.
Check out and bookmark so you have it to hand when you need it. Why not also forward the link to someone you know who might find it useful?
