Course intent
You will develop your knowledge of Nursery and Reception education in England and know where to find out more information. This will be positive for your family.
What will I learn?
Join our FREE 2-hour online workshop. You'll work with a tutor and other parents to learn what school readiness means. You'll find out how to help your child start school with basic skills in talking, interacting with others, and managing emotions. This makes learning easier for them. We'll also give you ideas to help your child feel safe at school and build good relationships with key people
You will:
- Learn how to support your child's wellbeing
- Help your child handle emotions when away from parents
- Build confidence in working with the school
- Create and keep a good routine for your child
Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?
If you are a parent or carer of a child aged 0-5, this workshop will help you understand the system, what happens in Nursery and Reception, and how you can support your child in getting ready for primary school.
What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?
You will need to:
- Have my camera on
- Provide a mobile phone number and email address when you enrol so that we can contact you about your course.
- Please attend all sessions
- A reliable internet connection
- A computer/laptop/tablet or phone with a fully updated browser (preferably Google Chrome), microphone and camera
- A pen and paper
- Check your email for detailed joining instructions two days before course starts.

- Contact us on family.learning@surreycc.gov.uk if you have any questions
What can I do when I finish the course?
At the end of this course, we will give you details of what you may wish to move on to next, for example volunteering, further courses with 中国P站 Adult Learning, a college or employment
Additional information
We welcome learners with additional needs and disabilities. When you enrol, please let us know if you would like to discuss your extra support needs with a member of the Supported Learning Team who will then contact you as soon as possible. If you are enrolling within 10 days of the course start date, we may not be able to contact you before your first class.
