Course intent

A 10-week course where you will learn the essential skills needed to make a patchwork quilt. You will begin your journey by developing your sewing, cutting and assembling skills.

What will I learn?

You will learn:

  • Which fabrics to use
  • Straight grain and cross grain
  • Design: using colour and contrast
  • Marking, cutting and sewing
  • Assembling pieces into a whole
  • Hand Quilting
  • Design

You will be shown the basic techniques so that you can use them to make a quilt. We will also explore exciting quilt designs and be inspired for future projects.

You will find you make the most progress if you attend every taught lesson. You will be able to progress more if you are able to find time for homework.
