Course intent
Learn about the wonderful versatility of embroidery with your tutor who is a RSN (Royal School of Needlework) trained professional embroiderer and RSN tutor and has recently won the Embroiders Guild, Beryl Dean Award for Teaching Excellence. If you have never done any embroidery before, or you want to reawaken long lost skills, or you have a design that you cannot complete then this is for you.
What will I learn?
You will learn:
- preparation techniques for framing up fabric, tracing the design and separating threads
- how to get started on your design
- embroidery stitches required to complete a design
- the most useful and most commonly used stitches to enable you to gain confidence in embroidery and to progress to the next level
- a pencil and notebook
- some light-coloured cotton fabric (eg calico)
- a variety of stranded cottons or other sewing threads
- some different sized needles
- embroidery scissors
- an embroidery hoop (preferably 8-inch but any size is acceptable)

- 23rd November Sewing - Festive gifts Workshop - Beginners

Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?
This course is for Beginners and Improvers. As a Beginner, you will have a choice of design to work on that will incorporate the most important basic embroidery stitches. Those with more experience will be encouraged work on a more complex design and develop more stitches. If you have a design that you are stuck with then bring it along and find your inspiration again. If your design is not completed in this class, you will have all the skills needed to complete it at home

What can I do when I finish the course?
Learners will have the opportunity to progress to a longer embroidery course for a more in-depth personal development or progress onto other sewing or design courses to enhance further learning. Saturday workshops include:
