Sewing - Hand Embroidery - Beads & Sequins All Abilities Workshop

Course intent

Experiment with different ways of stitching beads and sequins and create an embroidered design that you could use as a beautiful brooch or to embellish something you wear. You will learn everything you need to be able to use beads and sequins in your designs and gain confidence in experimenting with textures.

What will I learn?

You will cover preparation techniques for framing up the fabric and tracing a design. You will then learn how to use beads and sequins and combine them with various embroidery stitches to create your own beautiful design or create textures and patterns on your textile pieces

Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?

All abilities welcome. This course is for beginners who want to try something new and improvers who want inspiration and to refresh their knowledge and explore new techniques and designs with guidance.

What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

You need to bring

  • a pencil,
  • some light-coloured cotton (e.g. calico),
  • a selection of different beads and sequins
  • some different sized needles that will fit through your bead and sequins
  • machine thread or stranded cotton
  • embroidery scissors
  • an 8-inch ring frame, which you can bring along if you have one or this can be purchased on the day from the tutor at a cost of 拢4.

There will also be some other optional items such as beads, sequins and equipment available to purchase on the day from your tutor.

What can I do when I finish the course?

Learners will have the opportunity to progress to the 10-week embroidery courses in Camberley, Woking and Sunbury for a more in depth personal development with this tutor, or to other week day and evening sewing and embroidery courses, or Saturday workshops in Guildford.

If you are enrolling within 10 days of the course start date, we may not be able to contact you before your first class.
