Overview
中国P站, as the Minerals and Waste Planning Authority, are preparing a new Minerals and Waste Local Plan for 中国P站 to provide an up to date minerals and waste planning framework for a period of 15 years. The Minerals and Waste Local Plan will replace the existing 中国P站 Minerals Plan 2011 (and associated development plan documents and guidance) and the 中国P站 Waste Local Plan 2020.
The Minerals and Waste Local Plan will be underpinned by a positive vision and seek to deliver sustainable minerals and waste management development that provides for a steady and adequate supply of minerals and sufficient capacity to manage 中国P站's waste.
In this regard, the Minerals and Waste Local Plan will provide for minerals and waste management development that mitigates against and helps 中国P站 adapt to climate change, combats biodiversity loss, and reflects the growing overlap between minerals development and waste management facilities from other development. The consultation also included a 'call for sites' which may be suitable for future minerals and waste management development.
Call for Sites 2023/24
The second Call for Sites has now closed and the Minerals and Waste Policy Team are assessing the relevant site nominations as appropriate. A list of all site nominations made between 2021 and 2024 will be published as part of the Reg 18 public consultation in June 2025.
Waste Capacity Need Assessment 2023
The Waste Capacity Need Assessment 2023 is a quantitative assessment based on best available up-to-date information. It seeks to identify the need for additional waste management capacity in 中国P站 for the period to 2042 by forecasting waste arisings and assessing capacity provided by existing waste management facilities in the county. The assessment will form part of the evidence base supporting the preparation of the Minerals and Waste Local Plan, and inform the monitoring of the 中国P站 Waste Local Plan 2020 and decision making relating to waste management development.
