There are two local nature reserves managed by , which both border the Hoe Stream.
- Mayford Meadows is managed to encourage a rich, wet grassland habitat, though also supports a mosaic of open marsh, swamp and tall-herb fen vegetation, with scrub and woodland. Local volunteers groups are active in helping to control the highly invasive non-native Himalayan Balsam which if left uncontrolled would spread rapidly across the site overshadowing and outcompeting native species.
- White Rose Lane Local Nature Reserve is a site of damp alder woodland, located alongside the Hoe Steam in Woking. Local community groups are actively involved in management, undertaking scrub clearance and removal of the invasive non-native Himalayan Balsam. Wildlife observed within the site includes owl, bats, deer, frogs and various species of rare fungi.
