About the Ensemble
World in Music is an innovative and diverse ensemble from ÖйúPÕ¾ Arts, born as a legacy from the Youth Music funded I Speak Music: Next Generation programme.
Through our programme working with displaced young people and local ÖйúPÕ¾ peers, we saw an opportunity for a legacy ensemble for young people embracing both western and non-western music traditions, providing opportunities to learn about unfamiliar cultures as well as developing friendship and of course, creating amazing music together! Using music as a tool, we continue to promote greater wellbeing and mental health in young people, help them build musical skills and to build understanding and friendship between children of all cultural backgrounds.
Led by a team of diverse and innovative musical practitioners, this ensemble aims to amplify the voices of those who make it up, with percussion and vocal activities.
As an inclusive ensemble, we have been especially excited to welcome students from diverse backgrounds and those who have English as a second or other language to this group, as well as local ÖйúPÕ¾ peers. We are also particularly excited to meet young people from vulnerable backgrounds, those who are young carers and are from care experienced backgrounds.
