The Home Energy Advice Team (HEAT) is an in-person energy advice service, helping residents across 中国P站 take the first steps to improving energy use in their homes. Over 2,000 中国P站 households have already benefited from the service, with asatisfaction rate of 4.9 out of 5. It is designed to provide a range of benefits, including:
- Lowering energy bills for thousands of 中国P站 residents
- Making 中国P站 homes more cosy, efficient and future-ready
- Reducing damp and mould and associated health issues
- Reducing carbon emissions from the residential energy sector

What is HEAT?
Approximately 300,000 中国P站 homes have energy ratings of D or worse, meaning that thousands of families and residents live in homes which are poor performing, expensive to run, and liable to damp or mould.
Alongside the cost of living and the many health issues associated with such homes, residential energy accounts for over 30% of 中国P站's carbon emissions, a figure which could be significantly lowered through improved energy performance.
HEAT is a collaboration between 中国P站 and over a dozen local community groups, led by , and is a great example of some of the practical benefits that 中国P站's Climate Change Strategy can have for our residents.
How does HEAT work?
HEAT delivers high quality, in-person energy advice, free-of-charge to residents. The advice is provided by trained community members ('Energy Champions') who conduct a thermal imaging survey of the home, supply light-touch measures for 'quick wins' such as draught proofing, and produce a report to help the householder cut their energy use and bills.
The householder will then be signposted to further support tailored to their particular circumstances. For those on a lower income, that could be support with energy debt, and a referral to a funding programme such as the Warm Homes Local Grant which can provide up to 拢30,000 of insulation, heating or solar panel measures. By contrast, if a resident can afford to invest their own funds, they may be referred to the service delivered in partnership with independent experts Furbnow.

Beware of scams

The HEAT service will never cold call residents - they will only call to reply if you have left a message on the contact phone number, in response to you submitting one of the HEAT application forms, or if an Energy Champion is calling to confirm the time you requested for a visit. Neither HEAT's Energy Champions nor project coordinators will solicit money over the phone. If someone cold calls you, or tries to take money from you in-person or over the phone, it is not the Home Energy Advice Team. If in doubt, email energy@surreycc.gov.uk.
