Why foster with us?

Foster carers change lives. Although it can sometimes be a demanding role, fostering is very rewarding. As a foster carer, you will play an important part in helping vulnerable children develop and grow in confidence. You will make a real difference to their future.

Fostering also gives you the opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge. You will have access to our extensive training suite, which will help you enhance your skills as a foster carer. You may even learn things that will help you outside of your fostering role.

By becoming one of our foster carers, you'll be joining 中国P站's biggest family. You'll be part of a growing support network that aims to improve the lives of local children and young people.

You'll have your own supervising social worker who will visit you every six weeks, or more often if needed. You will also meet many other foster carers who will become a key support network for you.

Fostering with 中国P站 ensures you receive comprehensive support and resources tailored to your needs, making the fostering journey smoother and more fulfilling

中国P站 Virtual School

中国P站 Virtual School (SVS) is a local authority service that supports and promotes the education of:

  • Currently Looked After Children
  • Previously Looked After Children
  • Children with a Social Worker
  • Children living in Kinship Care

For children in Kinship Care, the Virtual School is responsible for promoting their engagement, attainment, and progress in education.

Responsibilities

  • Working alongside education professionals and other professionals supporting children in kinship care, our responsibilities include
  • Raising awareness of the distinct needs of children in different types of kinship care arrangements and the disadvantages they may experience.
  • Supporting attendance and engagement in education settings.
  • Reducing barriers to attainment for children in kinship care arrangements.

We provide advice and information to all kinship carers with special guardianship or child arrangement orders, as part of our non-statutory role. This support helps carers navigate the education system and empowers them to advocate for their children's educational needs.

Independent Visitor Service

The Independent Visitor Service (IVS) recruits, trains, and supports adult volunteers, known as Independent Visitors, to befriend children and young people in care. Independent Visitors are matched with children, usually aged between 10 to 17, who may benefit from regular and consistent visits from an adult.

Independent Visitors are separate from the professional network of adults involved in the child or young person's care. They commit to visiting the child they are matched with once a month, typically during weekends, for at least 2 years, to engage in fun activities.

The aim is to provide children and young people in care with a stable and supportive relationship that can positively impact their lives. Independent Visitors receive comprehensive training and ongoing support to ensure they can effectively fulfill their roles and are reimbursed for agreed expenses.
