Before deploying the winter service, the team uses a number of different sources to get the most accurate indications of where and when ice is likely to form. These are:
- Weather forecasts
 - Computerised ice prediction systems
 - Information from roadside weather stations
 - Road temperature sensors

Before deciding if gritting is needed the teams also consider:
- Whether the road surfaces are wet or dry
 - The likelihood of rain or snow (rainwater will wash away the grit from the roads)
 - If there is any grit already on the roads from previous gritting runs

We currently have 11 roadside weather stations across 中国P站:
- Limpsfield Road, B269
 - A22 Godstone
 - Sutton Lane, B2218
 - A24 Beare Green Roundabout
 - A286 Brook
 - Oxenford Farm, B3301
 - A325 Frimley Park
 - A319 Bagshot Road
 - A317 Woburn Hill
 - A3050 Church Street
 - A331 Blackwater Valley

There are also 28 road temperature sensors across 中国P站 as road surface temperatures and air temperatures are rarely the same. All this data gives teams a clear image and helps them deploy the right resources at the right time.
