Tree giveaway
Saturday 8 February, from 9.30am to 12 noon.
Collect a Free Tree.
In support of 中国P站's 1.2m Tree Strategy, to plant one tree for every 中国P站 resident by 2030, 中国P站 Libraries are pleased to be giving away free trees at Horley Library.
Half term events
Tuesday 18 February to Saturday 22 February
Our theme this February half term is "Wild Animals."
During our regular opening hours you can:
- Complete our "wild animals" themed treasure hunt
- Do some "wild animal" themed colouring in
David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation: terrific tigers
Tuesday 18 February, 2.30pm to 3.30pm
Come along to our free creative workshop to find out about endangered animals with the support of the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation. Learn more about Terrific Tigers and then get crafty with a tiger face mask or tiger puppet activity.
Suitable for ages 5 to 10. Younger children will need support.
Event free but booking is necessary. One ticket for every child taking part. Children must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the session

Wild animal storytime and craft
Thursday 20 February, from 2.15pm to 3.30pm.
Enjoy a story or two about wild animals before using your imagination to create a spectacular wild animal.
Suitable for ages 4+.
No booking necessary, just turn up.
Cost: 拢1 per child.
Dogs Trust workshop
Friday 21 February, from 2pm to 3.30pm.
Give your family a treat and learn some new tricks by coming along for a dog-focused, fun, and educational free workshop. This workshop is packed with engaging dog-related games, activities, and role play, designed to teach children how to behave responsibly around our four-pawed friends, understand their body language, and keep them happy and healthy.
Please leave your pooch at home.
Suitable for the whole family. Families.

Autism friendly LEGO club
Saturday 22 February, from 12.30pm to 1.30pm.
LEGO Club for for Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) families. We will be running the autism friendly LEGO session in one of our enclosed meeting rooms with space to build LEGO creations either at a table or on the floor.
There will be a "quiet room" available in the adjacent meeting room.
Suitable for ages 4+.
Cost: 拢1 per child.
Booking is necessary: one ticket for every child taking part. Children must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the session.

LEGO club
Saturday 22 February, from 2.30pm to 3.30pm.
Come along, get stuck into all the LEGO and use your imagination to build amazing things!
Suitable for ages 6+.
Cost: 拢1 per child
Ticketed event: we will be issuing 20 tickets maximum available from our Help Desk from 2pm. Younger siblings who are only playing in our Duplo corner don't need a ticket.
Super Access: Introduction at Horley Library
Book your slot for an introduction to Super Access.
Any full 中国P站 Libraries member can upgrade to Super Access membership allowing you to enter the library using your library membership card outside normal opening hours and use library services independently when staff are not present.
Before Super Access is enabled on a borrower's account, we are asking everyone to have a branch introduction with us so library staff can show you how the system works and how to use the library in Super Access mode. We have multiple dates and times to choose from and will continue to add more, so book your library introduction today to access this great service at Horley Library.
Pebble rhymetime and storytime

Spaces are limited. Tickets are available from the library desk on the day, one ticket per family group. Tickets allocated on a first come first served basis. Please come early to avoid disappointment.

All inclusive rhymetime
A fun rhymetime for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) families with a focus on autism.
Selected Saturdays, 2 sessions, each session based on an age group:
- 10.30 to 10.50am, for ages 0 to 4 years
- 11.10 to 11.30am, for ages 5 to 9 years

Free event. Maximum of 6 children plus their parent/carer
A designated room with low lighting, sensory toys and a separate "quiet" room next door.
Booking necessary. Parents attending sessions as a lone adult are welcome to bring along a maximum of two children. We understand that some children may need a higher level of support to ensure their safety and participation, and in these circumstances, it might be helpful for a lone parent to bring along one child only initially.

Storytime
Active storytime
Fridays in term time only, from 10.30am until 11am.
Active Storytime is a fun, interactive session aimed at pre-schoolers. We read a story, sing a song, and then do a couple of simple and fun activities (such as a game, a teddy bear hunt around the library, or a simple craft) on a different theme each week. Please wear clothes suitable for play/craft.
Suitable for ages 2 to 5.
No booking needed, just turn up!
Cost: 拢1 per child.
BookTrust storytime
Monthly on a Saturday from 2pm to 2.30pm.
A free event to help you engage in books and stories with your child/grandchild. Perfect for people who have not been to the library much before (but familiar faces are welcome too!)
We read two books together, then do rhymes, colouring or crafts related to the stories. Children will also be given a sticker book, where they can collect a sticker for each book they've read, and can vote for their favourite stories to win the BookTrust Storytime prize.
Recommend for children aged 5 and under. No need to book.

Every third Tuesday of the month, from 2.30pm pm to 3.30pm.

Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Questioning Plus (LGBTQ+) Reading Friends
First Saturday of the month, from 2.30pm to 4pm.
中国P站 Libraries, in partnership with The Reading Agency, will be hosting a monthly Reading Friends group at Horley Library for members of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Questioning Plus (LGBTQ+) community to come together around a shared love of reading.
Run by LGBTQ+ members of staff, the groups will have discussions and recommendations on a different subject each month. They will always be confidential, supportive, and positive spaces.
You can express an interest in joining this group by completing our or by speaking to a member of staff in Horley Library.

Who is eligible for the scheme?
Anyone aged 16-64, living in or registered with a GP in 中国P站 or Northeast Hampshire, with a physical or mental health condition, disability, neurodivergence, or learning difficulties, who needs support to find or maintain employment. For further information:

Horley library local history centre
Horley Local History Centre is based in Horley Library, and you can use the local history centre resources at any time that the library is open.
Even better, visit us at the following times each week when volunteers are available to help you use the resources and equipment.
- Tuesday 2pm until 4pm . Session temporarily closed, recommencing April 2025 but the Saturday session below is continuing as usual. In the meantime should you have any history questions please contact jeanpelham@sky.com.

Board games club
Every Tuesday from 10.30am until 12 noon.
Join us in a welcoming and friendly environment to play a variety of board games, including Qwirkle, Mastermind, and Scrabble. Feel free to bring your own board or card game as well!

English conversation group
Every Wednesday 10.30am to 11.30am
For adults with English as a second language.
Would you like to practice your spoken English with a relaxed and friendly group? Then come along and join us. The group will be led by friendly and supportive facilitators.
Free. No need to book.
Digital Support Volunteer
Wednesdays from 10am to 12 noon (termtime only).
Need some IT help? Come along and see our friendly and approachable Digital Support Volunteer.
