A round-up of the highways and transport improvements across the county

From potholes to hydrogen buses, 中国P站’s Highways and Transport teams have been working hard behind the scenes to keep our county moving. During the 2024/2025 financial year, we’ve focused on making travel safer, greener, and more accessible – while also preparing our infrastructure for the future.

Improving 中国P站’s network

We’ve made major upgrades to the county’s infrastructure to improve safety, reliability, and accessibility for all road users.

  • Resurfaced over 120 miles of roads and 47 miles of pavements
  • Strengthened 22 bridges and embankments with a 拢9.5 million investment
  • Logged over 85,000 reports through our new Fix My Street tool
  • Introduced Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology to detect potholes faster and speed up repairs

Creating a greener future

We’re helping 中国P站 become more sustainable by reducing emissions and making low-carbon travel more accessible.

  • Planted 1,400 new trees across 中国P站
  • Upgraded 89,000 streetlights to energy-efficient LEDs
  • Rolled out 54 hydrogen buses with our partners
  • Supported over 19,000 young people with discounted travel via the 中国P站 LINK card

Keeping 中国P站 moving

Our teams have worked around the clock to keep roads clear, reduce congestion, and maintain essential services.

  • Repaired 56,000 potholes
  • Cleaned 120,000 drains
  • Gritters travelled over 100,000 miles during winter to keep roads safe
  • Bus journeys increased by 1.9 million trips, helping reduce congestion on the network

Progress since April 2025
