ÖйúPÕ¾ People's Group NHS 10-year plan workshops

We have one more workshop for ÖйúPÕ¾ People's Group about the NHS 10-year plan.

Emmanuel Church Hall in Guildford.

This is an opportunity for people to share their experiences to help change the NHS and make it better. Please sign up to one of the workshops so that everyone can have their say.


ÖйúPÕ¾ Professionals: Autism Suicide Prevention Training

Autism Oxford are offering free online training sessions for professionals in ÖйúPÕ¾, supporting either children and young people or adults.

This training aims to give professionals tools to better support autistic individuals.

Professionals supporting children and young people:

  • 5 March 10:30am and 30 April 10:30am
  • 22 May 1:30pm and 10 July 1:30pm

Professionals supporting adults:

  • 25 April 10:30am and 4 July 10:30am
  • 3 June 1:30pm and 15 July 1:30pm

Each course is 2 sessions of 2.5 hours. It includes pre-learning, live sessions, and post-reflection to deepen your knowledge and skills. Certificates are provided when both parts are completed.

Preparing for adulthood in ÖйúPÕ¾ information update

We have updated our information about preparing for adulthood.

Transition is when you start planning for life as an adult and when moving from services for children to services for adults.

The transition team is working to support young people with disabilities who also have an Education and Health Care Plan (EHCP).


Countryside Visitor Survey

ÖйúPÕ¾ wants to learn from visitors and residents. They want to know how people enjoy ÖйúPÕ¾'s countryside. They value feedback on what to improve.

Take part in their Countryside Visitor Survey. Help shape how they manage ÖйúPÕ¾'s countryside.

The survey takes around 10 minutes to complete.


Emotional support for people with learning disabilities

Healthwatch ÖйúPÕ¾ are exploring access to and experiences of emotional and mental health support for people who have a learning disability. They want to learn about the experiences of people who provide care or support through .

This will help inform future service development and identify training requirements.

NHS Pharmacy First campaign

This campaign is to raise awareness of the support community pharmacists can give patients in their homes.

The Pharmacy First service lets pharmacists prescribe medicine for seven common conditions. No need to visit a GP to get a prescription.

The Disabled Facilities Grant helps pay for home adaptations. It allows people to live with greater independence. This includes things like stair lifts, grab rails, extensions, and bathroom fittings.

People with a learning disability are entitled to a pneumococcal vaccination

The helps protect against serious illnesses like pneumonia, sepsis and meningitis.

Recommended for people with a learning disability and adults aged 65 and over.

The vaccine is free from your doctor.

You can speak to a nurse or doctor at your surgery or clinic about this.

Winter vaccinations

October was the start of the winter vaccine campaign. People with a learning disability are more likely to get ill from the flu. If your GP hasn't contacted you yet, please contact them to get your flu and COVID-19 vaccinations. You may be able to have your flu and COVID-19 vaccinations at the same time.

If you are a main carer or get carers allowance, you can also get a free flu vaccine. This will help protect you and the person you care for.

Do talk to your GP if you are worried about the vaccinations.
